The Leben RS-28CX Full Function Preamplier with MM Phono is equipped with a CR-type equalizer based on the General Electric (USA) 12AT7 tube, authorized by the J.A.N. (Joint Army & Navy) standard of the US Army. This allows the unit to reproduce very high-quality and clear sound without adding any negative feedback (NFB).
To avoid compromising sound quality, Leben developed a separate power supply unit to protect the sensitive CR-type equalizer from negative effects. Additionally, they selected some of the finest available high-end audio components for the RS-28CX to maintain the deflection of the RIAA curve below +/-0.3%.
Of course, the phono equalizer is only one of the strengths of the RS-28CX. Another notable feature is the very strong output voltage created by the Dual-Triode Tube 6CG7 from General Electric (USA), equipped for the line stage. Leben further selected the highest quality tubes and constructed a powerful SRPP-type amplification, which can supply power amplifiers with a maximum of 80V of clean output signal. Considering that the output voltage of a standard preamplifier is around 40V, the RS-28CX can output about twice as much voltage, making it ideal for driving power amplifiers with very low input sensitivity.
Additionally, for high sensitivity power amplifiers, a 5-step attenuator is included to eliminate residual noise from speakers.
Leben also included two outputs (one fixed and one variable) to accommodate the addition of a subwoofer.
